Summary

Changing Directions in Support of Aboriginal Youth Project is a program of the Native Courtworker

and Counselling Association of BC that will utilize a Wrap-Around approach to reach Aboriginal youth

aged 12-18 and residing in Nanaimo, British Columbia over the course of 5 years. We are accepting

applications for this full time position to be supervised by the Program Manager. The successful

candidate will be subject to satisfactory results of a Criminal Records Check. In addition, you will need to

agree to be a member of the British Columbia Government and Service Employees Union, which is the

bargaining agent for the NCCABC employees.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting high risk Aboriginal youth in the Nanaimo area utilizing Wrap Around
  • Gathering and reporting information that will be used in data exploration
  • Implementation of activities designed to improve the lives of high risk Aboriginal youth

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Understanding of Aboriginal communities in the Nanaimo area
  • Must be personable and able to quickly establish effective community engagement
  • An ability to navigate various software programs

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working with youth related projects and/or in a youth setting
  • Proven knowledge and experience working with Indigenous communities in the Nanaimo
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Social Work Degree is preferred
